Open Rodeo

Eddie's elementary school had "Cowboy Day" for Kindergartners a couple of days ago. We found what we could around the house (which wasn't much) for Eddie to use as Cowboy gear, and he had a great day at school being a cowboy. They have spent the past few weeks learning the history of the state of Texas. Part of that history, of course, is cowboys! So on Cowboy Day, all the kids dressed up, participated in cowboy activities, ate some good 'ole western food, and later that night was Open House so all the parents could come to see what they had been working on in class.

Eddie was excited to show us the book he made about Texas. He designed the front cover and all the pages inside. He drew maps and illustrated the facts about Texas such as the flag, the state flower, state bird, and he wrote out the Texas state pledge of allegiance. He also made a cowboy, a cactus, and a Texas flag. It was fun to see everything he had been working on in class. I always love looking at his daily journal where his posts can range from, "Legos are awesome" (with an illustration of him playing with legos) to, "My mommy lets me play with her iphone." His illustration for that one was a happy family picture with him holding my little red iphone in his hand!

Eddie and his buddy, Caleb - I told them to smile and this is what they did

But they couldn't keep a straight face for long!
