Easter is Coming

Texas doesn't skimp on the Easter egg hunts, I will tell you that. Go big or go home, right? Our neighborhood always has a huge free-for-all egg hunt where they literally scatter hundreds of eggs on the grass, divide the kids into age groups, say "GO!" and however many eggs you can get in your basket before they are all picked up are yours! We have three more egg hunts we have been invited to, and that isn't counting the one we were planning to do for the kids on Easter Sunday.

All that aside (since we ARE actually teaching our kids that Easter has nothing to do with eggs or bunnies!), today was Palm Sunday and Eddie is really starting to grasp the chain of events of this "holy week" that we celebrate. It blesses my heart to see his mind processing how Jesus loves him. Today we talked about how Jesus must have felt riding on that donkey with everyone cheering for Him and yet knowing that 5 days later they would all be sentencing Him to death. Despite the fickleness of the people, Jesus still loved them and willingly came to do what He had to do to save them. And not just the people who were there that day, but everyone! Jesus had EDDIE on His mind that Palm Sunday, knowing that dying on the cross was they only way to save him. I love the little grin on his face when he thinks about that. His new TOOTHLESS grin! Eddie lost both his upper, front teeth last week!

The traditional neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt:

Sophia and Nina (poor Nina fell on her nose and has two black eyes from it!)

Sophia and Charlotte (Allison was right next to Sophia but was not in a "picture mood" :) )

She really wasn't in much of a hurry

checking out her treats

Eddie in action

He was on a mission. I actually found lots of grass in his basket afterward from snatching up the eggs so fast.

Silly Brother! Sophia likes him to show her the gap in his teeth. She asks him if he is going to put his old teeth back in or go get some new ones?

The best I could get with the sun being so bright!

So cute. I think it's so great that they are grasping the truth of Easter. That has to make you such a proud mommy!

I LOVE EDDIE'S GAP-TOOTHED GRIN.

And Sophia's nonchalance about this whole Easter egg hunt business.

How smooshable are both your children?!

[Very.]

I love hearing how Eddie's learning about and really beginning to grasp Jesus and His heart of love for him. So precious.
